Backflow Tests
In water supply systems, water is normally maintained at a significant water pressure to enable water to flow from the tap, shower, etc. When water pressure fails or decreases (which may happen if a water main bursts, pipes freeze, or if there is unexpectedly high demand on the water system) the resulting siphon effect may draw contaminated water from the ground, from storage or from other sources to be taken into the system. A backflow preventer is installed to protect your domestic water from possible contamination.
The backflow prevention device of a typical lawn sprinkler system is located at the point the system diverges from the main house or building water supply, but may be located elsewhere in the main sprinkler pipe (outside, or just before the pipe exits the wall).
Due to our tight scheduling during the spring and fall, we are generally scheduling these tests for the winter months. If you have any questions, or would like to set up an appointment for a backflow preventer test, please call A J Lawn Sprinkler Co. Inc. today at (518) 303-8883
